FENCING TEAM HAS FIRST TEST

Three Follsmen Compete for Manrique Cup at Brooklyn Today.

The members of the University fencing team will have their initial test of the season today when they compete at the Brooklyn Y. M. C. A. for the Manrique Cup. The competition is open to any university team or fencing club in the country. The cup, which was won last year by the New York Athletic Club, is offered by the Brooklyn division of the Amateur Fencing League of America. The list of entries will probably be largely composed of fencing clubs in New York, this being the first year that a University team has been entered.

The University team will be headed by E. R. Gay '19, who is the only member of last year's team in College. E. Pruyn '18 and R. H. Snow '20, two new men, will fill the other places on the team. Gay won the University championship last year and now holds the position on the team left vacant by W. H. Russell '18, last year's captain. Pruyn and Snow have not had the experience of Gay, but will furnish able support for the latter in today's competition.
