Outside Games This Week Have Been Cancelled With Coming of Colder Weather

On account of an accident to the automobiles in which they were coming to Cambridge, the Roslindale baseball team had to cancel its game with the University team yesterday. The game tomorrow which was to have been played with the Norton Company has also been called off and one with a team picked from the combined freshman dormitory nines, has been supplemented in its stead.

As a result of the practice this fall, Coach Slattery has been able to size up his men and to make up his mind what he has to contend with next spring in shaping up a well organized team. With the exception of a first baseman, Coach Slattery has one of the strongest, surest, and fastest infields in college baseball. The backstop position will be well taken care of by Austin Blair, '21, and R. H. Keegan, '23, the crack freshman catcher of last year. In addition to this, the outfield positions will be filled by any of the following men, all of whom have proved to be very reliable players: D. F. Thayer, '23 captain and center fielder of last year's freshman team, J. S. Clark '23, D. F. Kerr '23, H. C. Janin, Sp., and L. A. Hallock '22 who played in the field for last year's University nine.

The problem of developing pitchers is the most difficult one that the coach will have to face. Although he has two reliable men in E. F. Goode '22, who won his "H" last year, and in H. S. Russell, 3E.S. who played on the second team last season, and although he has quite a few men from last year's yearling team, they are all inexperienced and will need a lot of seasoning.

However, with last year's players, and the available freshmen, Coach Slattery is sure to shape a team next spring which will prove itself worthy to represent the University.
