In welcoming three hundred principals of high schools in Massachusetts yesterday morning, President Lowell opened the first meeting of the annual three-day State Conference of High School Principals, at the Union, which lasts until Saturday.
Needed changes in secondary education, recruiting the teaching profession, and supervised study were some of the subjects considered at yesterday's meetings. Superintendent Frank V. Thompson, of the Boston public schools spoke of the business education in high schools.
"Co-operation of Colleges and High Schools in Improving Secondary Education" will be considered tomorrow morning, on which subject Professor C. O. Davis, of the University of Michigan, will deliver a lecture.
