GOURDIN, WASON, AND BARKER WINNERS IN THREE CUP RACES

Races for the L. P. Dodge 220-yard dash scratch cup and the S. G. Wells 440-yard and mile handicap cups were held yesterday afternoon. The entry lists were very large, especially in the quarter-mile, where the contestants were closely crowded throughout the race. E. O. Gourdin '21 captured first place in the 220, the first event, by a short margin over P. C. Pearson, Occ., and L. B. Sanderson '20, who crossed the line in second and third places respectively. Gourdin's time was 22 4-5 seconds.

Wason Mile Winner.

With a handicap of 100 yards, G. F. Wason '20 led the field from start to finish in the mile-run in the fast time of 4 minutes and 29 seconds. C. L. Bond, E.S., running from scratch, was but six yards behind the leader, while H. B. Davis '21 was upon the heels of Bond.

The most surprising race of the afternoon was the quarter-mile, in which G. T. Barker '23, with a 20-yard handicap, took the lead after about the first 50 yards and spurted in ahead of H. F. Colt '22 by a scant two yards. F. W. Hall '20 finished third. The winner's time was 52 seconds flat. All three cups which were offered become the possession of the winner for one year.
