LIGHT PRACTICE FOR ELEVEN AFTER BATTLE IN SATURDAY'S HEAT

TEAM B AND SECOND ELEVEN PLAY--MANY SUBSTITUTIONS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Fisher gave the University eleven light practice yesterday after their torrid work-out against Holy Cross Saturday. After a long talk in the Locker Building, in which the mistakes of the game were pointed out and discussed, the University squad was given the usual routine practice and signal drill. Team A lined up just as they opened the Holy Cross game, except that Hamilton and Faxon temporarily replaced Captain Horween and Sedgwick, both of whom were looking on in street clothes, resting up from the effects of Saturday's heat.

W. B. Frothingham '21, substitute end last year, has joined the coaching staff of the second eleven and will assist in training the wings. He will be unable to scrimmage this year due to an injury to this eye, received in the first baseball game with Yale last spring.

Churchill and Fitts Star in Scrimmage

At 4.30, Coach Fisher sent Team A to the showers and gave the ball to the subs on their 30-yard line. After an exchange of kicks with the scrubs, through which Team B gained 10 yards. Fitts, starting from kick formation, broke loose for a 30-yard run, evading many black-jerseyed tacklers by his clever pivoting. Line-bucks by Churchill and Owen carried the ball to the 15-yard line, where Churchill tore through tackle for a touchdown.

Coach Fisher kept the subs on the offensive, giving them the ball on their own 20-yard line. A long punt by Fitts carried the ball into the second eleven's territory, where a punt was blocked by Hubbard and dropped on by Holmes, putting Team B within scoring distance. An intercepted forward pass, followed by a punt, put the seconds out of danger.

The scrimmage lasted half an hour longer with no more scoring, featured only by a 25-yard dash by Churchill through the seconds' right tackle. Both Coach Fisher and Coach Knox made frequent substitutions so that nearly all the members of both squads had a chance to show their skill.

Team B lined up as follows at the start of practice: Weatherhead and Clark, ends; Hubbard and Lee, tackles; Olmsted and Holmes, guards; Tierney, center; Churchill and Owen, halfbacks; H. Humphrey, quarterback; Fitts, fullback.
