In the second scrimmage held against the M. I. T. sextet this week the Crimson team found little trouble in outplaying and outscoring their opponents yesterday afternoon at the Arena. In the first part of the practice game the Engineers were threatening, but as the scrimmage proceeded Coach Claflin's men were able to break up the M. I. T. attack in its initial stages in mid-ice. Not once were goal-tenders Higgins and Flint scored upon, although the former had one very narrow escape when an M. I. T. player got loose and had a clear shot for a goal.
Two regulars, Crosby and Baker, and one substitute, Cabot, were unable to take an active part in practice yesterday. Crosby's leg is still in bad condition, while Baker hurt his knee slightly in Tuesday's work-out. The latter went through the preliminary drill yesterday, but did not scrimmage.
In the absence of Crosby and Baker Coach Claflin started on Team A Gratwick at left defense and Larocque at right wing. Gratwick was also tried at rigth wing for a time. The second-string forward line, alternating with the regulars was composed of Hill at left wing, Lamont at center, and Angier at right wing.
The entire Crimson squad will attend the contest between M. I. T. and Dalhousie University tomorrow night, in order to gain some idea of the Canadians' strength and style of play. It is probable that the University will play no game between the Dalhousie contest this Saturday and the Princeton one the following Saturday, January 21. After facing the Tigers the University has no game scheduled until Tuesday, January 31, when it will probably meet the B. A. A. sextet.
