FRESHMEN WIN FIRST HOCKEY GAME 10-2

Defeat Malden High School Sextet on Charlesbank Rinks--Yearlings Show Individual Brilliancy but Lack Smoothness and Team Work

Displaying a speedy and powerful attack, the Freshman hockey team gained a decisive victory over the Malden High sextet at the Charlesbank Rinks Saturday afternoon. Malden gave the Crimson yearlings a hard tussle during the first two periods, but towards the close of the game Coach Humphrey's players scored six goals, winning 10-2.

The 1925 team scored twice during the first period, due to the work of E. M. Beals Jr. and G. W. Burgess. In the second period the Malden defense gave way slightly allowing Beals at center to cage the puck twice in quick succession before the whistle blew.

It was in the final period of the contest, however, that the yearlings exhibited their greatest power. Aided by improved teamwork the red-jerseyed players broke loose and bombarded the opposing cage with a fusilade of shots, six of which found their mark, Burgess at left wing and Hammond, substitute at left defense, scoring two each.

Although individual brilliancy reached a high mark in Saturday's game, lack of team-work hindered and slowed up the yearling attack. It is on this point that Coach Humphrey expects to lay emphasis in the sessions this week, as a decided improvement along this line is essential for next Saturday's contest with the Newton High School sextet.

A summary of Saturday's game follows:
