COLONEL ROOSEVELT TO SPEAK AT UNION

Lieutenant-Colonel Theodore Roosevelt '08, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, will deliver an address at the Union at 7.45 on next Tuesday, October 24, under the auspices of the Republican Club. The meeting will be presided over by Mr. Louis Arthur Coolidge '83, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. Preceding the meeting at the Union, Colonel Roosevelt will be the guest of honor of the committees of the Republican Club at a dinner at 6.30 in the Faculty Room of the Union.

Other speakers for the Union meeting will be arranged for by the State Republican Committee, and will be announced later.

Upon graduation from the University in 1908, Colonel Roosevelt entered into business, becoming director of several prominent firms. In 1919 he was elected to the New York State Legislature, resigning all his business affiliations. Two years later, upon the inauguration of President Harding, Colonel Roosevelt was appointed Assistant Secretary of the Navy.

Like his father, the Colonel has proved himself an able soldier. He took part in many of the battles of the late war, being wounded while in action with the First Army. He is holder of the D. S. C., the Legion of Honor, and the Croix de Guerre.

The meeting at the Union will be open only to members of the Union or of the Republican Club. Members of the University wishing to join the Republican Club may do so today at the Crimson building, stating whether or not they are members of the Union.
