Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
The University tennis team will play its first home match of the year against the East Side Tennis Club of Providence, R. I. at 2.30 o'clock this afternoon on the Divinity courts, while the second team will start its match with Clark University of Worcester half an hour later also at Divinity. The past week has been spent in practice matches and the first team with five veterans in the line-up, presents an appearance that is favorable in comparison with the team of a year ago.
The Providence team will be one of the strongest that the University will face all year. Mr. J. D. E. Jones playing number one, is a veteran of many years experience, having won the Rhode Island state championship several times and having once attained a position in the first 20 of the national ranking. Mr. Clyde Curley, another former Rhode Island state champion and one-time champion-of Oregon is playing second on the team. Some idea of the strength of the East Side players may be gained by the fact that Mr. Arthur Ingraham, playing six for Providence, defeated R. N. Bradley '22, now ranked fourth on the University team, with out the loss of a single game in last year's match.
Clark Lost to 1921 Seconds
The strength of the Clark University team is at present unknown, but their close match with the seconds last year which they lost by the score of 4-3, would seem to prophesy a close contest today.
The line-up of the two Crimson teams today will be as follows: University team.--Singles: 1, Morris Duane '23, captain; 2, K. S. Pfaffman '24; 3, G. C. Guild '23; 4, R. N. Bradley '22; 5, J. D. Second Team.--Singles: 1, C. P. Holmes '22; 2, C. W. Farnham '24; 3, E. A. Weeks Jr. '22; 4, LeRoy Frost '23; 5, J. M. Cabot '23. Doubles: 1, C. W. Farnham '24 and E. A. Weeks Jr. '22; 2, J. M. Cabot '23 and J. M. Kleberg '22; 3, Parke Cummings '24 and J. D. DuBois '24.
