NEWTON DEFEATS MEDFORD BY 1-2 POINT MARGIN

Noses Out Only Strong Contender and Captures Interscholastic Track Meet--Two records Smashed and Two Equalled--Moore Individual Star

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Half a point was the margin of victory in the interscholastic meet at the Stadium Saturday when Newton High defeated Medford High, its nearest competitor, and won the cup offered by the Massachusetts High School Athletic Association. The final score was 35 1-2 to 35. No other high schools were in the same class with the two leaders, Fairhaven capturing third place with only 10 1-2 points, while Lynn Classical and Rindge Tech were fourth and fifth with 9 2-3 and 6 1-3 receptively.

The only double winner in the contest, capturing both the 10-yard dash and the broad-jump, and giving a brilliant exhibition in the relay race, Moore of Medford, proved the individual star of the meet.

In addition to this, another record fell and one was equaled when Moody of Mediord wreeked the high-jump mark with a leap of 5 feet 7 1-4 inches while Richards of Newton High tied the 220-yard low hurdles time.
