J. H. DEMPSEY '23 IS ELECTED CAPTAIN OF SECOND TEAM

Held Same Position Last Year--Coach Knox to Stress Offence Work--Will Reduce Scrub Squad to Three Teams

The election of Justin Hanley Dempsey '23 of Boston as captain of the University second team was announced yesterday. Dempsey captained the eleven last year when he played in the backfield, but this year he has been shifted to end.

The second eleven has been showing steady improvement in defensive work during the past week in the scrimmages with the University eleven. During the coming week Coach Knox will stress drill in the offence and will begin to teach the squad the plays of teams which the University will oppose later on is the season.

No definite cut in the second squad will be made until after the last large cut in the University squad which will probably be made Monday. After that cut, Coach Knox will reduce the size of his squad to a working number of about three teams.
