BATTERY CANDIDATES GO THROUGH FIRST WORK-OUT

Twenty-five candidates reported yesterday for the first battery practice of the baseball season. Starting at 2.30 o'clock, the practice lasted for about an hour and a half under the supervision of Coach J. T. Slattery.

The men were given an easy workout, for the purpose of limbering up. This light work will continue for a period of three weeks until the candidates for the other positions are called out. Coach Slattery stated that there would be no curve-ball pitching for at least three weeks, in order to avoid the danger of sore arms.

K. N. Hill '24, who pitched on his Freshman team, Grosvenor Bemis '24, a lefthander on last year's squad, J. E. Toulmin '25, third baseman on the 1925 Freshman team, and R. W. Cordingley '24 were some of the candidates for the mound position who are expected to show up to advantage. L. C. Larrabee '24, a member of last year's University team, and R. H. Keegan '23, first string catcher on last year's second team, are among the posibilities for the position of catcher.
