Twenty-Two Men to Take Part in I. C. A. A. A. A. Track Events at New York Saturday -- Chandler to Represent University at Executive Meeting

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Martin picked 22 track men last night to take part in the I. C. A. A. A. A. games in New York this Saturday and also decided the make-up and running order of the University and Freshman relay teams. It has been definitely decided that the Crimson will not enter a two-mile quartet in this meet. Gordon has replaced Murphy in the mile relay and is running second, while Vinton Chapin will lead off while Merrill and Burke are slated for the third and anchor positions respectively. In the Freshman medley race, Allen will run 880 yards, McGlone 440 yards, Chase 220 yards, and Kane one mile.

On Friday and Saturday the University will be represented in the executive committee and business meetings of the I. C. A. A. A. A. in New York by C. V. Chandler '23, manager of the Crimson track team. The executive committee meeting Friday evening at the Columbia Club will discuss definitely the changes to be brought up for definite decision at the business meeting the following afternoon.

To Decide Important Questions

The matters to be discussed at the annual business meeting of the association on the day of the meet will involve several important decisions. The three colleges which applied for membership in the association: University of Southern California, Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, and Hamilton College, will either be accepted or rejected. Should California be admitted, Charles Paddock, noted sprinter, would be eligible to compete in the Intercollegiates this spring.

The meeting will also give a decision on the possibility of adding a relay race, probably a two-mile affair, to the pro- gram of events in May. The question as to whether or not the Freshmen medley relay race is to count in the point score will be decided. The present ruling includes the Freshmen in the scoring, and even if the question is decided negatively it will probably not go into effect until next year's indoor meet. The date of the Indoor Intercollegiates for 1924 is likely to be changed.

The meet this Saturday, the second annual indoor championship meeting the I. C. A. A. A. A., will commence at 3 o'clock in the afternoon when the 35-pound weight men contest at the Squadron A Armory. All other events will be run off at 8 o'clock in the 22nd Regiment Armory.

Coach Martin's entries brought to light the fact that Captain Burke will not compete in the mile run. He is to be saved for the relay which should have a good chance to place this year.
