THIRTY NEW CANDIDATES REPORT FOR TRACK TEAM

Squad Now Numbers 190--Coaches Martin and Farrell Direct Workout of All Men--Will Hold Meeting for 1926

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Although 30 new candidates reported yesterday afternoon for the University and Freshman track squads, the total number of men out is now only 190, a good deal smaller than the number who reported for the second day's practice last spring.

At yesterday's practice the runners worked out under Coach Martin's direction on the cinder track in the northwest corner of Soldiers Field. Coach Farrell supervised the work of the hammer throwers and jumpers, who practiced in the field behind the southern end of the Stadium, as well as that of the shot-putters, who practiced inside. The discus men practiced under Coach Mikkola in the ring near the west end of the tennis courts. Regular practice will be held this afternoon, and new candidates may report at the hour designated for the events in which they wish to participate.

Plans are now being formulated for a Freshman track meeting to be held a week from tomorrow night in the Smith Halls Common Room. All members of the class of 1926 will be invited to attend this gathering, the details of which will be announced later.
