The largest Freshman class in the history of the University, which yesterday entered upon its 288the year, had enrolled when registration was completed yesterday at 6 o'clock. Statistics at the end of the first day of College this year show a total enrollment of 930 Freshmen in the College. Never before have the numbers exceeded 900, and last year's opening day registration for the class of 1926 was 837. In 1921 when there was only one day for registration, the opening day figure was 856, which has been the record up to the present.

The total enrollment of the College also reached a new mark of 2858 as compared with 2710 last year. The registration by classes was: 930 Freshmen, 712 Sophomores, 693 Juniors, 463 Seniors, and in addition 60 out-of-course students. Late registrations may raise even higher the present record figure of 2858, and there may be similar increases in other departments of the University.

Of the incoming Freshmen 28 entered by transfer from other colleges, and 819 entered from preparatory or high schools either by examinations, or without examination on the basis of their school record. Exclusive of the Freshman class 54 students transferred to Harvard from other colleges, and are now provisional members of the Sophomore and Junior classes.

The Medical School has reached its limit of admissions, the quota of 500 students for the four classes having already been filled.

472 Enrolled In Business School

The Graduate School of Business Administration last year was compelled on account of restricted classroom facilities to limit the number to be admitted as first-year students to 300. This year, by scheduling 8 o'clock classes, three sections have been provided for and some 60 additional students have been admitted. Total registration for the school is at present 472 as compared with last year's final figures of 468.

Opening day enrollment at the Law School gives 992 students as compared with 922 on the first day last year, and for the first year class 478 in comparison with 412 registering on the first day in 1922.

Available registration figures, in other departments of the University in comparison with their final totals last year are as follows:

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, 567; 1922-23, 648.

Dental School, 165; 1922-23, 219.

Complete figures for the entire University, including late registrations and changes, will be announced as soon as they are available.
