The entire Freshman class and a few woebegone Sophomores will gather in the New Lecture Hall at 1.05 today for the first meeting of the course in Freshmen Hygiene. At this meeting the work of the course will be outlined by Mr. W. H. Geer, Director of Physical Education. The course consists of one lecture a week and a minimum of three hours a week in some approved from of athletics. The lectures will be given in two sections meeting on Tuesday and on Wednesday at 2 o'clock in the New Lecture Hall. Freshman groups will meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2, 3, 4, or 5 o'clock. During the fall these groups will participate in hand ball, tennis, fencing, equitation single sculls, or swimming.
At the meeting today in the New Lecture Hall, men will be given an opportunity to elect their lecture section, and, if they are not participating in some organized sport, their exercise period.
Monday, October 1, will be the first day on which attendance will be taken for weekly exercise. Before Saturday, September 30, all Freshmen who are participating in organized sports should report to Mr. Geer's office at Wadsworth House. All remaining Freshmen are to report at the Freshman Athletic Building on Monday at the hour which they elect today. The members of each group will then be able to select one of the seven forms of exercise offered by the department.
The lectures in Hygiene are to given this year by Mr. Geer, Dr. L. T. Brown '03, and Dr. R. I. Lee '02.
The course will terminate at mid-years.
