In spite of the fact that the new board track is not finished, the winter track season will begin today with a meeting at 3 o'clock in the Locker Building. Coach Farrell and Captain J. E. Merrill '24 will be the speakers and assistant Coaches E. A. Teschner '17 and D. F. O'Connell '21 will be present.

A large squad of men is expected to report. The material is individually promising, and with the addition of possible "dark horses" should be quite formidable, but what sort of a balanced team will emerge from practice remains to be seen.

Until the board track is put in use, about the first of next week, work will consist of starts and road-running.

A competition for manager of the Freshman team will open today at 1.30 with a meeting at the H. A. A. The work will be explained at this time. The winning candidate will manage the Freshmen throughout the spring.
