Preparation for the first debate of the University team with members of the Eastern Intercollegiate Debating League which it joined recently will begin to night. Trials for all candidates for the team will be held at 7 o'clock in Harvard 6. All undergraduates, including Freshmen, are eligible for the team.

As the first debate with Brown and Amherst will come on December 6, the 12 men who are chosen tonight will have to start work immediately on their briefs and speeches.

N. E. Himes 2G. has been selected to coach the University debaters this year. Mr. Himes had an excellent record on the University teams during his undergraduate years, winning the Coolidge Debating Prize in 1923 and speaking on three University debating squads. He also won the Lee Wade and Boylston prizes which are awarded for proficiency in speaking.
