Fall Rowing Will Start With Meeting in Newell Boathouse--New Coaches Will Assist Stevens

Fall rowing in the University will get under way tomorrow afternoon with a meeting of all candidates at 4.30 in Nowell boathouse. Captain S. B. Kelley '25, Coaches Edward E. J. Brown, and F. W. Spuhn, will address the first meeting of candidates. Coach Spuhn is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he rowed number seven on last year's championship Poughkeepsie eight, and comes to the University to direct candidates for the 150 pound crew. Each of the speakers will talk on the rowing policy for the coming year. Rowing will begin on Thursday.

Coach Stevens will arrive in Cambridge Thursday, and take charge personally of the first crew. Coach Haines, who had charge of the Freshman 150 pound eights last year will be head coach of the 1928 oarsmen during the coming season. He will have as his assistants A. L. Hobson Jr. '24, and J. R. Hoover '24, both of whom rowed against Yale last year.

Candidates for the Freshman crew will probably be called out Thursday evening with a meeting in Smith Halls Common Room at 7.15. At this meeting the coaches will outline the fundamentals of the Crimson rowing system and the rules for training which will be in force for the season.
