"Utilitarian versus cultural aims in college education" will be the general subject of the annual triangular debate with Yale and Princeton this year, according to an announcement last night of the Debating Council. The debate will be staged March 20, Harvard meeting Yale in Cambridge and Princeton at Princeton.
According to the rules of the Triangular League the University had to choose the general subject this year, while Yale will supply the exact wording within a few days. The subject thus worded will also be the subject of the third debate of the New England intercollegiate League on March 14, when the University speakers will face Dartmouth. the debate with Yale the following week will complete the third round triangle, Dartmouth having taken the place of Princeton, which is not in the New England League.
The debaters will be picked, after the mid year examination period is over, from a series of trials and will start training at once for the final debate.
