The appended verdict upon collegiate football handed down from the editorial bench of "Judge" is a highly significant expression of the reaction of mature minds against the overemphasis which is now being placed upon football in the colleges of the country. The CRIMSON does not support His Honor in urging the substitution of some other "form of intellectual exercises for football." But it readily understands how such opinions can be entertained by elder men who are dismayed and disgusted at the spectacle of the million dollar stadium, the ten-thousand dollar coach and the burly athlete throwing into complete eclipse the lecture room, the instructor, and the students. Football is very well, in its place. But it is not, after all, the be-all and the end-all of college life. The camel should not be given the entire tent.
