SCRUBS USE HOLY CROSS PLAYS AGAINST REGULARS

VIETOR, SCRUB TACKLE, LATEST ADDITION TO RED SHIRTS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The absence of five linemen from practice yesterday forced Coach Fisher to shift the Team A forward line for the afternoon's session. Saltonstall, Daley, Nash, Turner, and J. R. Fordyce were the missing forwards, Saltonstall and Daley because of classes, the others due to injuries.

Saltonstall Sure to Play

Turner and J. R. Fordyce will be available for relief work against Holy Cross, but Nash and Daley may be confined to the sidelines. Saltonstall is physically fit, and is sure to answer to the opening whistle tomorrow.

Yesterday afternoon marked the first appearance of Holy Cross plays on Soldier's Field. Teams A and B faced the scrubs for 40 minutes in dummy scrimmage, Holy Cross plays being displayed.

After the scrubs had left the Stadium, the two University teams opposed each other for further work at dummy play. Due to lack of sufficient linemen, Team C did not take part in this drill, but with a patched line-up, ran through signals later.

Scored Against St. Johns

The University squad was augmented yesterday by the promotion of a scrub forward. C. F. Vietor '26, a Second team tackle who has been showing up well in practice and who scored one of the scrub touchdowns against St. Johns, is the latest addition to the red shirts. Vietor, who prepared at Exeter, was a member of the University squad in his Sophomore year, but was relegated to the Seconds last year.

Team A lined up for signal practice with Adie and Sayles at the ends; Pratt and Lindner at the tackles; Kilgour and C. H. Bradford, guards; Macomber, center; Cheek, Miller, Crosby, and Coady, backs. E. H. Bradford and Doherty were later substituted in Adie's place on the right flank, while Miller in the backfield was relieved by Howe.

Stafford was in command of Team B with Chauncey, Zarakov, and Howe for carriers. In the line, Doherty, Taylor, and Hoague on one side; E. H. Bradford, Simonds, and Daniell on the other, flanked Shapiro who was in the pivot berth.
