BRASS-BUTTONED HUMOR

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The humor of the Lampoon is apparently infectious, for since Lampy's close association with the police last spring, the gentlemen of the force have shown signs of a perverted wit which is only to be attributed to their perusal of the comic magazine.

Once more have the police successfully accomplished the coup of towing from beneath the windows of sleeping students some thirty-five cars parked along the side of the street by their owners, all unwitting of the jest which was in the air. This drollery was perpetrated quite as a surprise, for forewarning of the intentions of the police would have spoiled the joke and frustrated their nocturnal escapade.

Morning on the Gold Coast dawned on empty streets, but pursuit of the busy towing car would have revealed a lot overflowing with cars of every description. The outraged owner, apprised of his bereavement, instituted a frantic search and finally located his missing car. It was at once apparent that the guardians of the law had shared the joke with the garage in whose lot the cars were stored, for a fee of eight dollars was exacted before the car could be moved from durance vile.

This bagatelle, we understand, was not imposed upon the student for the trifling operation of towing the car two blocks. It was for the privilege of participating in the jest.
