Dr. Alfred Worcester '78 has announced that he has completed his plans that will put hiking on a basis of equality with other elective Freshman sports.

"When the present outdoor sports are over, and the indoor schedule starts, Freshmen will be allowed to elect hiking as a form of exercise. This sport will be supervised, and we shall try to arrange trips that are interesting to everyone."

Dr. Worcester, who is himself an enthusiastic walker, believers hiking to be one of the greatest methods of exercising. "I have talked to Trainer Farrell of the football and track team, and he also believes in the efficacy of hiking as an exercise", said Dr. Worcester when interviewed.

Dr. Worcester also cited Dartmouth as an example of a college that went in extensively for walking. Their Outing Club, according to Dr. Worcester, is one of the factors in Dartmouth's rapid rise as an institution.
