The preliminary bouts of the University boxing tournament will be held in the handball courts of Hemenway Gymnasium at 4 o'clock this afternoon. The finals will take place on Friday night on the main floor.
About 40 will contest in the tournament, judging from the number of applications received by yesterday night when all applications were due. Coach Shevlin expects that competition will be unusually been this year since only one of last year's champions will contest. E. B. Lloyd '27 in the 175-pound class. There will be seven classes, divided as follows, according to the plan innovated last year, 112-pound, 118-pound, 126-pound, 135-pound, 147-pound, 175-pound, and the heavy weight class.
The bouts will consist of three two minute rounds, in both preliminary and final rounds. P. J. Campbell '12, under whose auspices the tournament is being conducted, has provided two able seconds who should prove helpful to battlers.
