The Freshman team will open its season this afternoon at Middlesex at 3 o'clock, facing a schoolboy combination made up largely of veterans of the nine that defeated last year's Freshmen 7 to 6. The present first year team, according to Coach Claude Davidson, is stronger than the 1927 aggregation was at the corresponding time in the season.

The Crimson is well fortified with pitchers. J. N. Barbee, scholastic star from Chicago, who will start today's game, and D. B. Linscott from Exeter, are both right handed twirlers of unusual promise. Linscott is such a good hitter that Coach Davidson will play him in right field when he is not pitching. Henry Chauncey, former Groton athlete, will be behind the bat.

Lord, a graduate of Andover and the best hitter on the team to date, will play first base. His batting has been the feature of the practice games with the second team. Hamilton Heard, last year's Groton captain, will play second base, with R. I. Hunneman, Noble and Greenough captain, at third, and A. G. Pollard, from Middlesex, at short stop.
