Work on the portable stands at the north end of the Stadium on Soldiers Field was completed yesterday in preparation for today's game with Geneva. No increase in the seating capacity of the stands, which now accommodate 14,000 people, has been made. The foreman in charge of the work stated yesterday that 25,000 feet of lumber and 40 kegs of spikes and nails had been used in the repair work. He estimated that the cost of the erection and repairing of the stands to be about $20,000. At the end of the football season, all except 5,000 of the temporary seats are torn down and stored for the succeeding year.
