1929 LIGHTWEIGHT CREW LOSES TO TECHNOLOGY 150's

In its first race of the season yesterday afternoon the Freshman 150-pound crew trailed the M. I. T. first year lightweights to the finish by two and a half lengths. Rowing under ideal conditions, the powerful Tech combination turned in the fast time of 5 minutes, 442 seconds over the mile course.

Althopugh the M. I. T. boat won a clearly deserved triumph, the University Freshmen lost ground on account of a crab which number 7 caught about half way through the race.

The seating of the 1929 crew was: J. A. Swords, stroke; Everett Addoms, No. 7; F. B. Lee, No. 6; James Hudson, No. 5; F. E. Farnsworth, No. 4; A. J. Ostheimer, No. 3; Morton Cole, No. 2; E. F. Fitzhugh; bow; A. M. Pappenheimer, cox.

This afternoon the class crew championship will be decided. As the results of an informal race early in the week the Junior X crew, stroked by A. W. Weisman '27, and the Senior A crew, stroked by G. E. Smith '26, are strong favorites to win today. The victorious oarsmen will be awarded their class numerals.
