STUDENT ADVISERS TO MEET 1930 TOMORROW

ADVISORY COMMITTEE WILL DINE IN FRESHMAN HALLS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Beginning at 12 o'clock tomorrow, the Student Advisory Committee will hold conference hours for Freshmen in the common rooms of four Freshman Dormitories, Smith, Standish, Gore, and McKinlock. These conference hours, which will last until 2 o'clock, will continue daily until October 2. All Freshmen are expected to get into touch with their advisers as soon as possible.

The advisory board has been diminished this year by half in order to attain a higher degree of flexibility. This system aims at maintaining intimate relations between adviser and advisee throughout the year. The advantages of the advisory system to Freshmen were discussed yesterday by W. E. Soule '27, chairman of the Advisory Board.

Soule Urges Freshmen to Call

"We hope," declared Soule, "that all Freshmen will take advantage of the opportunity to meet upperclassmen which they now have under the advisory system. Faculty advisers, of course, are more competent to give advice of a technical nature about Harvard, but undergraduates are able to give advice on more personal matters.

"The Freshman dormitories, which now house practically every Freshman living in Cambridge, do a great service insofar as they tend to unify the class as no other system could. But the danger is that continual contact among themselves will make Freshmen gregarious. It is the sincere desire of the Student Advisory Committee to make Freshmen feel that they are a part of Harvard College, and not merely a part of the Freshman class."

Besides holding conferences daily from 12 until 2 o'clock, advisers will eat in the Freshman dining halls throughout next week. Any Freshmen who have not yet received the name of their adviser will be promptly assigned upon application to any member of the Advisory Board during conference hours.
