FRESHMAN MALLET-WIELDERS HOLD UNIVERSITY TEAM TO TIE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University and Freshman polo squads had their first stiff scrimmage workout yesterday at Newton, the result of the practice game between the two fours being a tie of two goals to two.

Major J. B. Wogan lined the University horsemen up as follows: L. A. Shaw '30, No.1; J. P. Cotton '29, No. 2; Alexander Shaw '28, No. 3; and J. P. Mandell '29, back. The Freshman malletmen were in the following formation: H. L. Kellogg, No. 1; George Clark, No. 2; H. T. Gerry, No. 3; and P. L. Jenkins, back.

The first-year team, though not yet definite in personnel, made a very favorable showing and played on the whole a better game than the veterans according to Major Wogan. Goals were scored for the University by Cotton and Alexander Shaw, one apiece, and for the Freshman by Jenkins, who made both tallies.

The Freshman trio will join for the first time this winter the Boston Indoor Polo League, in which it will play various Army teams of Boston and vicinity.
