WORCESTER TEAM HOLDS 1931 TO SCORELESS TIE

CAPTAIN HEWITT OF WORCESTER RUNS 55 YARDS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Fighting to break a scoreless tie, the Freshman eleven was twice held for downs on the edge of Worcester Academy's goal line in the game on Gaskill Field at Worcester Saturday afternoon.

A 55-yard run in the second quarter by Hewitt, the schoolboy captain and quarterback, was the most striking feature of the game, but Hewitt failed to cross the goal line and the Freshmen stopped the Academy's advance.

The line-rushing of G. H. Talbot '31 and Captain B. H. Ticknor '31 accounted for most of the Freshman team's many first downs: rushing and kicking were the main articles of the Harvard offense, very little passing being tried.

Twice during the first period the Freshmen advanced close to the enemy goal, and both times they were repulsed; once the team was within five yards of the mark and once on the 15-yard line, but each time the strong schoolboy defense prevented any further gain.
