American participation in Oxford sports, which has hitherto been frequent and considerable, is threateued with serious curtallment by the new age-limit rule which came into force with the opening of the present term, according to a statement from the Committee on the Rhodes Scholarship Fund at Oxford.

The new rule, which was promulgated at an Oxford Cambridge conference recently, is to the effect that any student who is 23 or more years of age on the day of entrance into the university is prohibited from taking part in certain athletic contests between the two major universities.

Thus far the rule applies to track athletics and cross-country running only, but a movement is now under way to extend it to rowing, rugby, lacrosse, hockey, and soccer, in which Americans have heretofore taken a prominent part.
