With the completion of the matches played yesterday the University fall tennis tournament reaches its semifinal round.
In the class A singles tournament Louis Brewer 3G defeated J. H. Appleton '29 in two sets by the score of 7-5, 6-4; while in the class A doubles G. H. Perkins 3S.A. and T. E. Jansen 3L proved their superiority over L. L. Howard '31 and G. B. Dagget '31 by defeating them 6-2, 6-2. In the class B tournament John Barnaby 3L defeated S. B. Myers '29 by the score of 6-3, 6-3. The tournament was devised chiefly to bring forward the prominent tennis players in the University from whom the winter squad is composed.
All of last year's University team is back this year, and of them only two are in the Senior class, while the other four are Juniors this year.
Several members of the team have been unable to compete in the tournament because of divisional examinations, but in spite of this loss the material in class A is unusually good.
Class B with 111 registered, draws most of its entries from the Freshman class.
