Georges Scapini French War hero typifying for France the same courageous spirit which Sergeant York winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor typifies for America is to lecture in the Harvard Union at 8 o'clock this evening.
Not only is Scapini a national figure because of his war record, but he is one of the most brilliant lawyers in France and a prominent member of the French Chamber of Deputies. He is visiting the United States at the special invitation of Ambassador Herrick and the American Legion.
Addressed Legion Visitors
In 1927 when the American Legion held their convention in Paris, they were addressed by Scapini. General Perishing and the other leaders of the A. E. F. were so impressed with the personality of this blind soldier that they urged him to visit the United States the following year. It is in accordance with this request that Scapini is here at the present time having been the sole official French representative to the sole American Legion Convention at San Antonio, Texas last month.
Accompanying Mr. Scapini to Boston is Frederick H. Allen '80 of New York who has been appointed chairman of the committee for his reception by President Coolidge. The lecture will be held in the Faculty Room of the Living Room of the Union, and will be directly proceeded by a small dinner which is being given for the visitor by the members of the French department. The talk is open to all Union members.
