TWO PLACES TAKEN BY TRACKMEN AT NEW YORK

A new star flashed across the track firmament last night when A. L. Watkins '31 won, fourth place in the 40 yard dash in the Millrose track meet last night at New York. The University relay team won second place in the intercollegiate relay between Maryland University, Harvard, and the University of Pennsylvania.

A. H. Miller '27 of the Boston Athletic Association retained his title which he secured while an undergraduate at the University, when he won both the 40 and 50 yard dashes. The two men who have threatened his title time and again were on hand last night to try once more for the crown as champion short distance sprinter. The runners are Frank Hussey, former Boston College track star, who has been second in most of his races with Miller. The other is a new runner in the field, Carl Wyldermuth of Georgetown University. In the 40 yard dash Hussey was second, Ernest Morrill of Boston University was third, and Watkins was fourth. In the 50 yard dash Wyldermuth was second, and Hussey third.

Maryland University won the relay meet in which the University runners competed, and the University of Pennsylvania won third place. In the relay race between Colgate, Amherst, and Boston University, Colgate was first. Holy Cross was victorious in its relay race with New Hampshire, and Georgetown University. These, as the event in which the Crimson quartet ran, were all one mile relay races.
