DEMOCRATIC CLUB LISTS SPEAKERS

Two men of prominence in the United States have been secured to speak at the Democratic Club in the near future, it was announced last night by G. W. Smith 3E.S., a member of the organization:

The first speaker will be Moorfield Storey '66, a well known Boston Lawyer, scheduled to appear next Tuesday at 4 o'clock in the Faculty Room of the Union. Mr. Storey was president of the American Bar Association for many years and has written several books on legal subjects. "The Reform of Legal Procedure" and "The Conquest of the Philippines", are two of his best known works. He is expected to discuss either the Phillipines, dealing especially with their independence, or the Pan-American policy of the United States. The latter topic has been given a great deal of prominence during the last month as a result of the Havana Conference.

On April 2 in the Union, Houston Thompson will speak. Mr. Thompson was a former member of the Federal Trade Commission, and he will probably deal with problems in labor and the methods the Commisson has used in dealing with them.

Several prominent Senators have promised to speak before the Democratic Club and have given tentative dates. Senator Thomas J. Walsh of Montana is scheduled to give a talk on April 10. Due to the fact that this date is during the Spring vacation the Club is trying to change this to either a date before April 8, or after April 21. Other prominent government officials who are expected to deliver addresses during this coming month are Senators Glass of Virginia, Copeland of New York, and Caraway of Arkansas. Arrangements for speeches by Senator Nye and Senator La Follette are under way.
