The University lacrosse team defeated the Springfield stickmen yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field by a 6 to 5 score.

The Crimson twelve displayed the best form of the season in edging out its first victory over a strong opponent. Marked improvement in the employment of the Baltimore style of play as taught by the new head coach. H. W. Jeffers 2G B., was plainly noticeable in yesterday's game. The team played without the services of Ira Markwett '28, one of its most consistent performers, and did well to keep the visitors score so low under the conditions.

J. C. Drier '28, R. C. Glenn '30, and H. J. Wallace '38 sctarred on the attack for the Crimson with two goals apiece.

The University line-up follows:

H. L. Ellison '28, g., F. A. Pickard '29, p: H. M. Hartnett '30, cp. R. I. Hatch '28, Id., S. P. Park '29, 2d., O. F. Hatch '28, 3d., C. D. McQuaid '28, c. Drien 3a: Glenn, fa. Captain J. R. Lane '28 la: A. M. Murphy '29, ch, Wallace, l. h.
