Academy Group Unable To Take a Set From First Year Men

The 1931 tennis team defeated the Milton Academy forces in the first match of the year yesterday by a 7 to 0 score. The first year men won without dropping a single set. Franklin, the 13 year old Milton star, displayed fine form, although he lost to J. D. Evans '31. The first two Freshman doubles combinations won without encountering serious opposition.

Ogden Phipps '31 and R. L. Tower '31 were absent from the Freshman lineup on account of illness.

Singles W. L. Breese '31 defeated Sperry (M.); 6-3, 6-2; A. C. Ingraham '31 defeated Prescott (M.), 6-3, 6-2; T. G. Upton '31 defeated Ewer (M.), 6-3, 6-2; G. S. Greene '31 defeated A. Fay (M.), 6-1, 6-1; J. D. Evans '31 defeated Franklin (M.), 6-4, 6-0.

Doubles A. C. Ingraham '31 and W. L. Breese '31 defeated Ewor and Sperry (M.), 6-1, 6-0; T. G. Upton '31 and G. S. Greene '31 defeated H. Fay (M.), and A. Fay (M.), 6-1, 6-3.
