THIRD UNIVERSITY CREW PICKED FOR HENLEY RACE

THIRD FRESHMAN COMBINATION WINS REGATTA CONTEST

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Yesterday afternoon the third University Crew that will race in the American Henley at Philadelphia on Saturday rowed in its final seating for the first time. It entered the contest of the Senior Eights in the Harvard Invitation Regatta but did not race due to the fact that there was no other competitor. In the Junior Eights race the Freshman crew C won by two lengths from the Gore Hall crew over the mile course in the Charles River Basin.

It is as yet undecided whether the third University crew will be awarded a default in the Senior Eights event. Since the class crew race on May 3, which was won by the Sophomore A entry, Coach F. R. Sullivan '27 has been trying out various combinations for his third University eight. He did not decide on the final seating until yesterday afternoon before the oarsmen rowed. The crew will leave for Philadelphia tomorrow night to row on Saturday afternoon.

Today four races are scheduled for the regatta. These are: novice singles, wherry race, compromise race, and a race for the class crew men not on the third University eight.

The third University crew that will row at Philadelphia is seated as follows:

Stroke, J. L. Batchelder '30; 7, D. R. Kroell '29; 6, R. A. Page '30; 5, C. N. Comstock '30: 4, Roger Donaldson '30; 3, Amyas Ames '28; 2, E. H. Wilson '30; bow, J. S. Wintringham '30; Cox, D. F. Baum '30. The two substitutes that will make the trip are, R. S. Mitchell '30, and Edward Hamlin Jr. '29.
