BATTING AVERAGES SLUMP IN FACE OF BETTER HURLING

The batting averages of the Harvard baseball team took a twenty-point drop in the last five contests to fall from .329 to .308. Better hurling from the pitchers the Crimson batters have had to face has continued to bring down the high averages early season batting sprces gave many of the players.

W. S. Bardie '30 continues to rank above the regulars with a mark of .387, although his average has also suffered the effects of facing first rate pitchers, falling from his mark two weeks ago of .409.

J.P. Chase '28 has moved up to second in the lists, and by his showing against Brown yesterday, appears to be aiming for the top. W. W. Lord '28, Captain H. W. Burns '28, and G. E. Donaghy '28 follow in order, with averages of .333 or better.

The team average in fielding has remained practically the same, dropping only one point in the last three games.

Hardie still leads in number of triples hit this season with six to his credit, while Chase and Donaghy, with six and five two-baggers apiece respectively lead the squad in the art of batting out doubles. Lord and Donaghy share home run hitting honors with three each.
