Holy Cross, arch-rival of Harvard baseball teams, invades Soldiers Field at 4 o'clock this afternoon to do battle with the 1928 model of the Crimson nine. J. N. Barbee '28 or F. B. Cutts '28 will be the mound choice of Coach F. G. Mitchell of the University diamond forces, while Coach Barry of the Purple will probably nominate either Dobens, veteran left-hander, or Fons.
Last year Barbee met both of these Crusader hurlers in two games and toppled them to defeat, the second contest, between Dobens and the Harvard right-hander, going to 14 innings.
Last Saturday the powerful Fordham nine tore into the Holy Cross players and overthrew them for their first defeat in nine games. The University combination has not been defeated by a college nine.
If Coach Barry's pitching selection should fall on Dobens, the Harvard line-up may be shifted to present more right-handed hitters to the southpaw slants of the Crusader. With R. C. Sullivan '28 still on the bench with a bad arm, G. E. Donaghy '29 will play shortstop, with A. G. Whitney '29 at third. F. E. Nugent '30 may play right field in place of W. B. Jones '28 if Dobens pitches.
HARVARD HOLY CROSS Burns, c.f. 2b., Harrell Chase, 2b. s.s., Lawrence Donaghy, s.s. c.f., Savage Lord, c. lb., Shevlin Prior, lb. r.f., Dobens or Fischer Whitney, 3b. l.f., Hurley Jones, r.f. c., Phelan Hardie, l.f. 3b., Cahill Barbee or Cutts, p. p., Dobens or Fons
