MEMORIAL CHAPEL PLANS UNDERGO MARKED CHANGE

Due to pressure on the part of Harvard graduates, the plans for the new memorial chapel have undergone a distinct change according to a statement contained in President Lowell's annual report to the Board of Overseers.

Along with the announcement that a tower, containing memorial tablets to those who died during the World War, would be built at the side of the new chapel instead of being incorporated into it, it was stated that the whole memorial would cost $1,300,000 instead of $1,000,000 as previously estimated. About $8000,000 has now been subscribed and $500,000 more is being sought.

It is possible that a carillon may be put into the tower since a steeple suitable for one is contained in the plans. The tower is planned in such a way as to allow it to be open although the chapel may be closed but both will be closely connected.
