Too much blame should not be laid upon Harvard men for pleading guilty to the indictments of the Vassar Miscellany, quoted elsewhere in these columns. Coming from an institution so much less physical, it is not at all surprising that the sudden metamorphosis to Poughkeepsie life should daunt all but the boldest or best conditioned of males.

However, if such a thing may be suggested, the blot on the escutcheon of all Harvard men is due only in part to the causes suggested in the young ladies' lament. Vassar weekends may be too strenuous, but it seems illogical that mere walking should hold any terrors for those inured to the isolation of Cambridge classrooms.

The presence of Harvard men on the Vassar Campus evidently has such an avatarish note that it is not surprising the girls should tend to overemphasize the physical part of their pastimes. No wonder the shy visitors are frightened off, Perhaps more stress laid on intellectual amusements would make the guests feel more at home, but, after all, what are girls' colleges for?
