Winning their games against the First Cleveland Cavalry, 19 to 12 1-2, last Saturday night and against the Cincinnati Riding Club, 12 to 9, last Friday night, the Harvard polo team may look back upon an unbroken string of victories for this season.
The Cleveland game was much more even than the score would lead one to believe, for both teams played hard and fast and spills, "turns-on-a-dime," and terrific smashes were plentiful throughout.
At the last minute, Cleveland, remembering their defeat by Yale, Friday night, decided not to spot the visitors four points handicap, but to start from scratch. The western riders scored two goals in the first chukker, thus putting themselves in the lead, but five goals for Harvard in the next period, gave the visitors a lead that was never overcome. G. O. Clark '31 starred for the Crimson malletmen, by scoring 11 goals, while Newcomet, of the Cleveland team, made 7. Score--Harvard 19, Cleveland 12 1-2. Goals--G. O. Clark 11, Gerry 4, F. A. Clark 3, Greenfield 3, Newcomet 7, King 3. Fouls--Newcomet 2, King 2, F. A. Clark 2. Time--Six 7 1-2 minute chukkers. Referee--Charles E. Bert.
