Oregon, course, as stated in their telegram, was hard with conditions excellent for play.

That the Oregon team was playing unusually good golf is testified to by the fact that Palmberg, number 3 man, broke the course record with a 6S, par being 72.

The results of the first eighteen holes for the two teams are as follows: Moelol 16. Finlay 11, Will (O) 16. Arnold 9; Palmberg (O)22; Murphy 9; Heitkemper 13, Baldwin 9.
