Three committees to investigate matters of major importance in the University were appointed last night at a meeting of the Student Council, by Vernon Munroe Jr. '31, president of that body.

J. W. Hallowell '31 was named chairman of a committee to study the problem of receiving unchaperoned women guests in students' rooms. Serving with him will be Eustis Dearborn '32 and R. W. Chasteney '31. It will be the duty of this group to investigate thoroughly all aspects of the problem, particularly as it relates to the existent parietal regulations, and formulate a report to be presented to the Council.

J. B. Campbell '31 was appointed chairman of a committee, as yet unselected, to investigate the problem of accommodating commuting students for meals. Beginning next fall, with the entire House Plan in operation, there will be some 500 Harvard students living outside the College dormitories. Under present conditions, none of these men are privileged to eat in the University dining halls. The committee of which Campbell is chairman will present a report incorporating recommendations which will provide for these commuting students.

As a general committee on the House Plan, the president of the Council has appointed the following men: S. P. Duggan '31, E. E. Record '32, J. N. Trainer '31, Samuel Spencer '33, and J. B. Campbell '31. The work of this group will involve the solution of numerous problems arising out of the inauguration of the new residential system which cannot be handled effectively by the individual House committees.

The Council recommended that a minor "H" be awarded to all men on the University football, baseball and hockey squads, who do not play in the Yale game, but are still members of the squad at the time of the game. This recommendation was made to the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports, by whom final action will be taken.
