CRIMSON QUINTET DEFEATED BY BIG HOLY CROSS FIVE

Tall Center of Crusader Outfit Chalks Up 16 Points--Wenner Gives Crimson Most Aid.

Holding down the small University quintet, a fighting Holy Cross team overshadowed the Crimson favorite by a score of 45 to 25 last night at Hemenway Gymnasium.

The Purple basketeers breaking a long line of defeats, by taking advantage of its height and the opponents' light weight tipped the ball into the hoop time and again while the Crimson dwarfs stretched in vain. Driscoll, high point man, with 16 points to his credit, standing head and shoulders above the Harvard guards, had only to stand under the basket and knock the ball in as it bounced off the board. He sank fouls when Rex and Burns tried to keep him down.

The game started slowly, but before long the half had turned into a fast and furious fray. Wenner started the scoring but it was evened by Stoke's and Driscoll's fouls. With Wenner dropping long shots the score was tied at 10 all, but soon after Driscoll began his antics and the end of the half saw the purple leading by 22 to 15. Holy Cross continued to function during the first part of the second half, while Harvard seemed to sleep. A 20 point lead was reached. Near the end Baskerville and Wenner made a few spurts and the Crimson seemed to get on its feet, but Holy Cross was already stallnig. The end was fast, with the Purple seconds in, and Basky sunk a last desperate goal as the gun roared:

The summary: HOLY CROSS  HARVARD Stokes, Russell, l.f.  r.f., Farrell, Baskerville Shanahan, Desantels, r.f.  l.f., Wenner, Pattison Driscoll, Fitzgerald, c.  c., Burns, Pierce, Rauh Clancy, Cunningham, l.g.  r.g., Nido Farrell, Leary, r.g.  l.g., Rex
