Stewart French '28 has been appointed coach of sculling for the coming season according to an announcement made yesterday by Harvard athletic authorities. French will take the place of E. A. Wachter, the former coach, who is to have charge of the Freshman 150-pound and dormitory crews this spring.
Sculling practice begins today; and a large number of men are expected to report at Newell Boat House, where they will receive instruction from French in the art of handling all kinds of single-oared boats, including wherries, and narrow and broad comps. French acted as Wachter's assistant in this work, two years ago.
