FRESHMAN AND SECOND BASEBALL TEAMS LOSE

SECONDS GET FIVE HITS FROM SCHOOLBOY PITCHER

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Before a strong Andover nine that rolled up seven runs in the first inning, the second University nine went down to a 11 to 5 defeat, on the Academy diamond. Phineas Tobe '32, Crimson pitcher who has held the mound successfully against all past opponents, did well against the schoolboys, but poor support by the rest of the team killed the Harvard chances.

Broaca, stellar Andover hurler, allowed but five scattered hits during the first seven innings, and at the same time struck out 10 men. Superior playing by the schoolboys was largely the cause for the win.

The score by innings:

The Harvard Freshman baseball team continued its losing streak yesterday and dropped its fourth consecutive game, losing to the Tufts first year men by a 12 to 3 score. At no time during the game did the Harvard team threaten, while in addition to weak hitting there were nine costly errors listed for the Crimson nine.

The Tufts aggregation started scoring in the second inning, when they drove two runs across in consecutive hits. This batting skirmish was repeated in the fourth and seventh frames, when the Tufts nine scored four runs in each frame.
