The truce is over. A short period of preparation is left to the Military Corps to reenforce the shaky entrenchments and to roll the projectile-laden caissons to the front zone. Frightened recruits with a weakened morale await the attack side by side with hardened veterans bearing their ancient battle honors on the regimental standards.
